FC Barcelona Rising Stars – Gerard Pique

Gerard Pique (defender) – This 21-year-old central defender has already had a strong taste of first-team football, having played 12 times in the English Premier League for Manchester United and 22 times for Zaragoza in La Liga.

He rejoined his boyhood club Barcelona in May 2008 and despite only representing his country once at Under-21 level, I feel this composed defender has a bright future ahead of him; especially having learnt from one of the greats – Rio Ferdinand – at Manchester United.

Whether or not Pique breaks into the FC Barcelona first team this season is unsure, but the team finishing in the top 3 seems almost certain. So at 1/9 the odds may seem long, but it’s an excellent bet for those who are willing to take the gamble.
